This is the place where I let the masses know the musician that I have discovered this month. I don't mean discovered like the musician was Lana Turner and I found it sitting there in a drugstore and then took credit for its success. I mean I happened to stumble across it, most likely long after it was a movie star. If we're still using the Lana Turner reference. If we're not, that makes no sense. But the point is the musician is new to me and I love them. This is going on too long so the last thing I'll say is that I have given more than one Hanson song five stars in my ipod, so that's where I'm coming from.
December 2006 The Elected
It was brought to my attention by Scott last night that it was the 16th and I still didn't have a new music entry. I brought it to his attention that I never said my music pick would have to be posted exactly on the FIRST! But apparently he got to me because here is my pick:
The Elected! There's no exclamation point after their name but it looks adorable anyway.
Again I don't know if I'm late to the game on this one, but they are great. They are fronted by the Rilo Kiley co-songwriter who isn't Jenny Lewis and apparently their first album was recorded at Elliot Smith's studio and mixed by two dudes from Bright Eyes and The Postal Service. I just threw a lotta hip, emo bands at you, how you like me now? Seriously folks, calm down. They are catchy like Rilo Kiley but somehow sound British even though they're from California. That's my review, print it! Just listen to them on their website if you want to. My favorite song of theirs right now is Not Going Home. Someday maybe I'll be able to post mp3s and the world will come together and applaud me.
