This is the place where I let the masses know the musician that I have discovered this month. I don't mean discovered like the musician was Lana Turner and I found it sitting there in a drugstore and then took credit for its success. I mean I happened to stumble across it, most likely long after it was a movie star. If we're still using the Lana Turner reference. If we're not, that makes no sense. But the point is the musician is new to me and I love them. This is going on too long so the last thing I'll say is that I have given more than one Hanson song five stars in my ipod, so that's where I'm coming from.

August 2007    The Magic Numbers
Finally I am back to give a music pick that everyone probably already knows about. I think maybe they opened for U2? They appear to be playing Central Park Summerstage this week. But you know what, they are new to me and that's what this is about! If you don't know them, I suggest listening to Take A Chance on their myspace page. Good luck!

April 2007    The Submarines
Look at this, it's not even halfway through April and I've got a new pick! And they're even from Los Angeles which I find interesting. I'm sure there are lots of great local bands but it seems like most of them probably move here after already having been together. I'm just making assumptions haphazardly now. It's fun, you should try it. Anyway, I really enjoy them, check 'em out if you please!

It took me long enough to write this, but they are my pick of the month! I have no idea if they are the next biggest thing, or if they are already the biggest thing, or if they were the biggest thing and now they are the medium sized thing, but I enjoy them. The singer sounds like Bob Dylan and Colin Meloy from The Decemberists. That's my summation, give 'em a listen if you like!

I am coming in right under the wire to give my pick of the month! Stars apparently contains the same members of Broken Social Scene, but not all of them. So I don't know what that will do for you, but there it is. They have a boy and a girl singer, and they kind of sound like The Postal Service. If the Postal Service had a boy and girl singer and contained some of the members of Broken Social Scene.

Go to their myspace page and listen to them! If you do, if you DO, listen to Calendar Girl. It's my favorite.
