Face the news.
I'm making a prediction that the scrunchie is coming back. I don't like it, nobody does, but it's going to happen. I'm sorry. Maybe they'll do something new to it to make it more palatable, like have it smell like Jesus. I'm sorry again. I love Jesus as much as the next guy, but he probably didn't smell great. Well, what can you do. I'm not the one wearing the scrunchie, I'm just predicting the comeback.

It really was your year! Again!
At the request of a good friend of mine I am giving a "shout out" to the Red Sox. Good job, Red Sox!!
I've had a hard time rooting with all my heart for sports teams since Jeff Van Gundy left the Knicks (preceded by Starks and Oakley getting traded), but I know how it feels to really love a team, and I'm happy for all the die hard Red Sox fans. They really deserve it! Good job, Red Sox fans!

I loves the interwebs!
I was looking up what people had to say about Vancouver, Washington (another one of my Extreme hobbies) and I came across a jewel. This guy may be doing the definition of projecting:
"Infidelity, cheating, personal corruption, greed and no integrity are the family values here.
You will make some money, not have to see too many homeless people, and have every commercial offering at your very doorstep....it will only cost you and your kids your character and humanity. Look forward to having you join us in our little hell."
He also mentions Nihilism being "in vogue". I love this guy.
I love that he thinks it's Vancouver's fault. And by "love" I mean, someone get a shrink to pay a home visit pronto.

Song of the month, year, etc.
I know I sing Micah P. Hinson's praises (no pun intended) every six months or so, but if you are a fan of the Beach Boys song, "Waiting for the Day" from Pet Sounds, you must buy Micah P. Hinson's version of it immediately!! WFTD is my favorite Beach Boys song, and this version is AMAZING. There aren't enough superlatives. The album is called Do it Again: A Tribute to Pet Sounds. Go get it! Do it! Again.

I was minding my own business when I heard this from the kitchen:
Brett: I know what Britney Spears should go as for Halloween.
My mind started racing...is he finally succumbing to my gossip hunting ways? Will he no longer have to control his rage and nausea when he hears some bit of "news" if I just happen to be watching Extra? But I just calmly went on.
Me: What she should go as?
Brett: Broccoli. Get it? Broccoli spears?
Me: (a confused mix of relieved and crushed) Oh God.
Brett: I'm gonna email her.

Tomorrow's post: dusting & filing
Because I live a high voltage life, I do fascinating things like google if it's better to floss before brushing. You guys wouldn't understand but I'm telling you anyway. If there's one thing I wouldn't expect to come across when googling flossing, it's sexism. But there it was, snuggled in between the advice to floss before brushing and being grateful to be of service:
"And if this is a woman asking....this will really make sense....you always sweep the floor before you mop, that is to get rid of MOST OF THE DEBRIS and then it is easier to clean the floors.. right?"
I really want to share this advice with Brett but Goddammit, he just wouldn't get it.

Happy 14 monther, lady!
She celebrates her faux birthday by telling a boy much larger (but younger) than her, "I'm doin' a hundred on the highway, so if you do the speed limit, get the FUCK outta my way". I mean, I think that's what she's saying. They kind of slur at this age.

I may be a bit emotional right now.
I teared up watching Newport Harbor. I know, God, I know. But their little babies are going off to college! Where did the time go? The moment of tearing up happened when Chrissy's father said to her, "Eighteen years went by so fast baby."
Me: I don't want Harper to go to college! I'm not ready!
Brett: Good, neither is she.

I must use my strength wisely.
It would appear that the admission of my love for Hanson almost killed one of them. I had JUST written about them. Coincidence? I think not. Why am I so powerful?? But it seems that while Isaac was in the hospital, the other two adorables walked in an HIV/AIDS walk for orphans in Africa. I need to send them a note to let them know I'm on their team and they don't need to impress me anymore; knock it off, boys.

DVRs from the cable company are a farrrrrrr second place.
Brett's friend was going to be in a sketch on Oprah. I don't want to consider what that would look like, but the point is he wanted TiVo to tape the late night version since he found out too late for the afternoon one. For those who don't know, TiVo tapes things you like without you even asking it to! TiVO is totally your best friend. As I tried to point out to Brett.
Me: Maybe TiVo ALREADY taped it for you!!!
Brett: If TiVo already taped it for me I will be shocked.
Me: TiVo taped Oprah when Bill Clinton was on!
Brett: I know,I know. TiVo is a very sensitive lover.
He FINALLY gets it.
