Weezer is awesome for a variety of reasons.
I heard about this from my new favorite music blog (a bit late), I guess I'm floating; Weezer invited their fans to bring any instrument they play to come play four of their songs, plus Radiohead's Creep. I wish you had known about this, Jen (and been in any of the towns they are playing), I'm sure you would have been the only one showing up with a theremin.
But the real point here is, I love Weezer.

Earlier today Harper learned what whiskers were when Brett corrected her from calling it "hair" on her favorite stuffed animal kitten. Minutes later she looked over at our cat Jack, walked up to Brett and surprised said, "Jack, whiskers TOO?"
I just looked up to see Jack trying to eat the whiskers on Harper's toy cat. It was as if he was muttering to himself, " Jack has whiskers TOO. I'll show her who has whiskers and who doesn't have whiskers. Jack has whiskers TOO."
I don't project much onto these cats.

Funny AND cats? What are you waiting for?
If you live in NYC you should go to this for me. Comics raising money for cats?? What could be better? Comics and Obama raising money for cats I guess. Comics, Obama and Rick Springfield raising money for cats. Comics, Obama, Rick Springfield and Oprah raising money for cats. You know what, this event sucks, forget it.*
*I'm totally kidding! Go to it! Please!

Tim Russert dies, breaks my heart in process.
At the risk of making this about me, I'm really sad! Meet the Press was the only news show I could tolerate! He was so fair and unbiased even when interviewing evil Bush lovers (I am also unbiased)! And he loved his dad! And he was adorable! And he was only 58! People, stop eating red meat and start running! Run to the cow pasture, turn around and run back! Listen to me!
Bleh.

It'll happen to you too, but that doesn't help me now.
I know when people become parents they say things their parents said that they never thought they would utter. But I have more experiences of saying things I wish I didn't have to say, or make me wonder what happened to me that I had to say it.
So, Harper found a tampon (new, wrapped in paper, thankyouverymuch) under the sink and decided she loved it. She wanted to carry it with her all over the house and never let it go. Fine. I wanted her to come over to the couch which she refused to do, so I was forced to say:
"Harper, come over here right now or I'm going to take away that tampon."
And then came the reassessment of my life.

Awards season is fun season.
Brett was randomly selected to be on the nominating committee of SAG. All this translates to for us is more free movies at awards time and we couldn't be happier about it. It also translates to sounding like a more important position than it is. The first couple days after he got the letter whenever I would mention a movie he would say, "Well, as a member of the SAG Nom Comm..." and then his voice would trail off as if I could easily just take it from there. When he stopped doing it I missed it, so I would do it too.
Me: Well as a member of the nominating committee, you...
Brett: What does that have to do with where we're going to eat?
Me: Don't ask me, you're the one on the committee.

I am back although anyone who doesn't have this on google reader will probably never know. But I am here to say something VERY important.
Mission Impossible 3 is REALLY good!! I'm not even half way through it and I'm already declaring it...REALLY good. It makes me like Tom Cruise again! He didn't have to do all those shenanigans with Katie Holmes---having babies and jumping on furniture. He just had to make this movie (to get me to like him again)! It's really good. Sorry, REALLY good. In other up to the minute movie reviews: Ironman was GREAT.
